Cape Coral

RV Resort Near Cape Coral

Cape Coral is known as a "Waterfront Wonderland" because it has over 400 miles of canals—more than any other city in the world! It is about 35–40 miles (approx. 50–60 minutes) from Cabana Bay, making it a perfect day trip for guests who love boating, unique wildlife, and tropical gardens.

Cape Coral: The Waterfront Wonderland

Distance: ~38 miles (Approx. 55-min drive)

Take a scenic drive south to explore Cape Coral, a city literally built on the water. Famous for its sprawling canal system and its quirky "resident" owls, the Cape offers a unique blend of nature and fun that you won't find anywhere else in Florida.

Meet the Neighbors at Rotary Park
Rotary Park Environmental Center is the best place to see Cape Coral's most famous residents: the Burrowing Owls. These tiny, adorable birds live in the ground and are the city’s official mascot.

  • Butterfly House: Walk through the "Tom Allen Memorial Butterfly House" (check for tour times!) to see native Florida species.

  • Nature Trails: Explore the salt marsh trails and climb the observation tower for a view over the wetlands.

Tropical Vibes at Matlacha (pronounced "Mat-la-shay")
Guest Favorite: On your way into Cape Coral, you'll pass through Matlacha. This tiny island is a "Technicolor" fishing village filled with art galleries, bright cottages, and fresh seafood.

  • Art Walk: Visit the Leoma Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens for a burst of Florida color.

  • Fresh Catch: Stop at any of the local waterside shacks for the best "pink gold" shrimp in the region.

Waterfront Dining: The Best Seats in the Cape

Cape Coral is famous for "Dock & Dine" culture. Whether you want a sophisticated evening out or a sandy-toes tiki bar vibe, these are our favorite spots to grab a bite with a view:

The Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill is the ultimate "Old Florida" experience. Located at the edge of the Yacht Club, it features a massive open-air tiki hut and the city's only riverside beach.
