Port Charlotte

RV Resort Near Port Charlotte

While we love the quiet, tropical luxury of our home here in Placida, the nearby hub of Port Charlotte (just 14–15 miles up the road) is the perfect spot for sports fans, nature lovers, and shoppers. Whether you’re looking to catch a professional baseball game or explore a hidden nature preserve, Port Charlotte makes for an easy and exciting afternoon out.

Fun Things To Do in Port Charlotte

Major League Fun at Charlotte Sports Park
Distance: 11 miles (Approx. 15-min drive)

Charlotte Sports Park is the award-winning Spring Training home of the Tampa Bay Rays. If you are visiting us in February or March, this is a must-do!

  • Guest Tip: Don't miss the 360-degree boardwalk that wraps around the outfield—it’s the best place in the stadium to grab a cold drink and watch the game.

  • Pro-Tip: The park is cash-free, so make sure to bring your cards or phone for snacks and souvenirs!

Explore the Wilds of Tippecanoe
Distance: 11 miles (Approx. 15-min drive)

Located right behind the baseball stadium is a hidden gem: Tippecanoe Environmental Park. This 380-acre preserve feels worlds away from the city.

  • Birdwatchers Rejoice: Keep your eyes peeled for the rare Florida Scrub-Jay!

  • Scenic Views: Take the trail to "Mount Tippecanoe" (a local high point) for a sweeping view of the mangrove forests and the bay.

Dinner & A Show at Visani
Distance: 18 miles (Approx. 25-min drive)

Looking for a fun night out? Visani Italian Steakhouse and Comedy Theater is the premier spot for laughs and great food.

  • The Experience: They host nationally touring comedians and incredible tribute bands (everything from Elvis to Journey).

  • Booking Tip: These shows are popular and often sell out! We recommend booking your tickets online a few weeks before your stay.

Waterfront Relaxation at the Beach Park
Distance: 19 miles (Approx. 25-min drive)

Port Charlotte Beach Park

If you want a change of pace from our Gulf beaches, Port Charlotte Beach Park offers a beautiful harbor-side experience.

  • Activities: There is a heated swimming pool, bocce ball courts, and a long fishing pier.

  • Kayaking: The waters here are much calmer than the Gulf, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely morning paddle.

The Twisted Fork & Bert’s Black Widow

Distance: 11 miles (Approx. 15-min drive)

For a high-energy afternoon, head to The Twisted Fork. It’s a massive restaurant and entertainment complex attached to a world-class Harley-Davidson dealership.

  • Vibe: Think live music, huge outdoor bars, and a very "RV-friendly" social atmosphere.

  • Events: Check their calendar for cornhole tournaments and weekend bike fests!

Why Our Guests Prefer Placida

While Port Charlotte has the malls and the stadiums, our guests tell us they love returning to Cabana Bay because:

  1. The Silence: Port Charlotte is a busy commercial hub; Placida is an escape.

  2. The Beaches: Port Charlotte is on the harbor, but we are just minutes from the actual white-sand Gulf beaches of Boca Grande.

  3. The Trail: You don't have to drive to a park to find nature—the Cape Haze Pioneer Trail runs right past our front gate!
